Washington State Works towards Resilience
Sea level rise is predicted to have widespread impacts at the local level. In Washington State, Tacoma and Island County are already considered vulnerable. For this reason, a federally funded coastal resilience project with Washington Sea Grant is partnering with these areas to collect data and develop best practices for planners, as well as help communities adapt and plan for significant risks. Tacoma demonstrates the effects of sea level rise on an urban population, while additional sites will soon provide information about less populated areas.
