These data were collected and derived by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, National Geodetic Survey (NGS) Remote Sensing Division using a Riegl VQ820G system. The data were acquired from 20151109 - 20151123. The data includes topobathy data in an ERDAS Imagine (IMG) format and a 1 m grid size. The DEM data includes utilization of ground (2), bathymetric point (26), submerged object (29), and International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) S-57 object (30) classification fields from LAS files. An automated ground classification algorithm was used to determine bare earth point classification. It should be noted that not all returns may be correctly classified; therefore the user should examine for acceptability. In addition to the DEMs, the topobathy lidar point data are also available. These data are available for download here: https://coast.noaa.gov/dataviewer/#/lidar/search/where:ID=5101
This lidar data and derivatives are an ancillary product of NOAA's Coastal Mapping Program (CMP), created through a wider Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping initiative to increase support for multiple uses of the data. In addition, it will be used for ongoing research efforts for testing and developing standards for airborne lidar.

Data were processed to an initial LAS format using the Riegl RiProcess software. The Applanix POSPac software was utilized for GPS and inertial processing, and GeoCue, Terrasolid, and LP360 software for data visualization, 3D editing, and export to final LAS file. Data were processed in NAD83 horizontal and vertical datum. VDatum was used to process to the MLLW datum. Uncertainties in the vertical datum transformations equate to 9.7 centimeters. QT Modeler was utilized to create the initial 1 meter DEM from an LAS 1.2 format file utilizing ground (2), bathymetric point (26), submerged object (29), and International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) S-57 object (30) classification fields for input. The values in the DEM were not rounded (no rounding rule was applied).

The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received data in tif format from NOAA NGS. The raster files were at a 1 m grid spacing. The data were in UTM Zone 19 coordinates and NAVD88 elevations in meters. OCM ingested the files into the Digital Coast Access Viewer (DAV) system without any changes to projections or datums.
