WSI collected Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data of the Green Peter study area for the Oregon LiDAR Consortium (OLC) in Linn County, Oregon. The collection of high resolution geographic data is part of an ongoing pursuit to amass a library of information accessible to government agencies as well as the general public.
Between September 21st and November 27th, 2012 , WSI employed remote-sensing lasers in order to obtain a total area flown of 218,464 acres. Settings for LiDAR data capture produced an average resolution of at least eight pulses per square meter. The LiDAR survey utilized a Leica ALS60 mounted in either a Cessna Caravan 208B or a Partenavia P.68 aircraft. The systems were programmed to emit single pulses at 105 kHz and flown at 900 m AGL, capturing a scan angle of 30 degrees from nadir. These settings were developed to yield points with an average native density of greater than eight pulses per square meter over terrestrial surfaces. The study area was surveyed with opposing flight line side-lap of greater than 60% with at least 100% overlap to reduce laser shadowing and increase surface laser painting. The system allows up to four range measurements per pulse, and all discernible laser returns were processed for the output dataset.
Final products included lidar point cloud data, one-meter digital elevation models of bare earth ground model and highest-hit returns, intensity rasters, study area vector shapes, and corresponding statistical data. Final deliverables were projected in Oregon Statewide Lambert Conformal Conic. This metadata was created for the bare earth digital elevation models.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy
unknown
Vertical Positional Accuracy
Vertical accuracy statistical analysis uses ground survey points in open areas where the LiDAR system has a "very high probability" that the sensor will measure the ground surface and is evaluated at the 95th percentile. For the OLC Green Peter study area, a total of 2,960 RTK points were collected. No independent survey data were collected, thus statistics are "Compiled to Meet".
For more information about the vertical accuracy, please refer to the final report, listed above in the Supplemental_Information field
of this metadata record.
; Quantitative Value: 0.03 meters, Test that produced the value: Compiled to meet root mean square error.
Completeness Report
Lidar data has been collected and processed for all areas within the project study area.
Conceptual Consistency
Upon receipt from vendor (WSI), all LiDAR data was independently reviewed by staff from the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) to ensure project specifications were met. All data were inventoried for completeness and data were checked for quality, which included examining LiDAR data for errors associated with internal data consistency, model quality, and accuracy.
The LiDAR survey occurred between September 21st and November 27th, 2012, utilizing a Leica ALS60 mounted in either a Cessna Caravan 208B or a Partenavia P.68 aircraft. The systems were programmed to emit single pulses at around 100 kHz and flown at 900 m AGL, capturing a scan angle of 30 degrees from nadir. These settings were developed to yield points with an average native density of greater than eight pulses per square meter over terrestrial surfaces.
2012-01-01T00:00:00
The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received the files in the proprietary ESRI grid format. The files were converted to floating point GeoTIFF format in vertical meters using gdal_translate from GDAL version 2.1.1.
2017-05-01T00:00:00
Files were changed to cloud optimized geotiff format to support streaming and vertical units were reverted to feet to match the horizontal units.
