Coastal Adaptation Workgroup Serves as Local Resilience Specialists

New Hampshire’s coastal management program worked with partners to host a workshop designed to prepare coastal communities for the increasing flood risks associated with severe storms and rising sea levels. The meeting led to the formation of the New Hampshire Coastal Adaptation Workgroup that has since leveraged more than $5 million in grant funds and hosted 16 workshops with over 700 attendees. This workgroup also coordinates the region’s ongoing resilience projects, provides technical assistance, and serves as the on-call coastal resilience specialist for local officials. (2016)
