Service Description:

Minor High Tide Flooding Inundation Extent

This dataset depicts the inundation extent of minor high tide flooding, which is defined in the NOAA Technical Report NOS CO-OPS 086: Patterns and Projections of High Tide Flooding Along the U.S. Coastline Using a Common Impact Threshold. This threshold provides a national definition of coastal flooding and impacts for quantifying and communicating risk. It may deviate from NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) impact thresholds that take into account local flood risk and are used to issue NWS coastal flood watches, warnings, and advisories.

NOAA Technical Report NOS CO-OPS 086: https://www.tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/publications/techrpt86_PaP_of_HTFlooding.pdf

The data and maps in this tool illustrate the scale of potential flooding, not the exact location, and do not account for erosion, subsidence, or future construction. The data and information provided should be used only as a screening-level tool for management decisions. As with all remotely sensed data, all features should be verified with a site visit. The data and maps in this tool are provided “as is,” without warranty to their performance, merchantable state, or fitness for any particular purpose. The entire risk associated with the results and performance of these data is assumed by the user. This tool should be used strictly as a planning reference tool and not for navigation, permitting, or other legal purposes.
