Designing Buttonwood Brook Dam Removal and Riparian Restoration

Recipient: Buzzards Bay Coalition

Grant Amount: $495,000 Matching Funds: $61,751

This award will develop preliminary level engineering designs for the removal of the Buttonwood Brook upper and lower dams, remediation of downstream culverts, and restoration of the adjacent floodplain, wetland, and riparian habitat. The project will plan for improvement of ecological function and resiliency in a segment of upland and tidal brook through enhanced aquatic connectivity and restoration of viable habitat. These nature-based solutions will support community resilience by reducing climate related risk.
