Overview

Included here are approximately 60 East Coast data sets from 1906 to 2009, with over 260,000 records of seabird observations. These data show where, when, and how many individuals for each species were recorded, and then averages the result in each grid, taking into account how often the same location was surveyed for each area and species. These data were collected by several bureaus within the Department of the Interior using various observation data sets. Techniques and original intent of the surveys varied, so the results are not necessarily comparable between surveys, years, and locations. Multiple species and seasonal maps are available.
