NOAA has a good source of data about the coastal and ocean economy—Economics: National Ocean Watch, or ENOW. This webinar provides a story-based format to explore scenarios featuring economic issues faced by different coastal management groups, from fisheries management councils to ports authorities, and introduces basic techniques for understanding and using these data. Data sets highlighted include ENOW, Census Bureau Non-Employer Statistics, NOAA Fish Landings, and Freight Flows from the Federal Highway Administration.
- Recognize the basic economic data sets (ENOW) provided by NOAA
- Identify other data sets that can be integrated with ENOW data
- Demonstrate how data can be used to tell a story
